Hello Jeremy Wadsworth Thank you for providing us newbies with code to look at and learn from. As you might imaging, you do get bald with certain problems to solve. But I hope I can use your code as a template to learn and build my own PWS and then onward to Club Site. I wish I had kept on learning .Net 5 years ago. :( Well, thank you. AND all the joy and happiness with your blessing to your new family addition. You are looking forward to an adventure.

Thanks for the code. I am a sys admin coding only part-time in the last year. I have your site running on a text box in my office and have been attempting to deconstruct it as you have taken it to levels I don't yet understand. Specifically, any info on how the different designs are loaded? Time is our most valuable asset and I understand if you can't. On that note take good care of the family and thanks again. The combined db is great.

Hey I was thinking you should look into adding pagination to your code. Pagination for the photos section....so that when you have say more than 10 photos you can page through them.

Sunday, May 28, 2006 5:45 AM

jeremy said...

My plan is to eventually add paging to the photos and the blog portion of my site. I just don't have time to work on the site code right now.

My site is hosted with Webhost4life. I have been using them for almost four years. I have been very pleased with them as a host. They have great support and allow great control over managing my sites.

Jeremy, I downloaded the source code. But I'm not sure where to extract each of the items in the zip file. Is there a read me file, or anything of help? Thanks

Friday, June 02, 2006 5:09 PM

jeremy said...

The help is contained on the front page when you run the site. All you should need to do is unzip the file to the location of your choice and then browse to the Personal Site Kit folder from VWD or VS. The database is already in the App_Data folder so you should just be able to hit run on the project once you’ve opened it.

Hello, I have downloaded your code (mainly for the remote site management) and am having some problems. It is extremely weird. I had most of the code running like a champ and then it broke. I then removed everything and started over. I am still getting an error that I can not find a solution to. I tried to login to your site and email you but that is not working. Anyway, I am getting this error: 'Context' is not a member of Admin_Users... I really think it is some kind of bug because I started over from scratch and it is still not working even though it did before... Anyway, if you have seen this before please let me know. If not then do you know where I could find some help???

Hello Jeremy, I've just downloaded your PWS source and got it up and running. Thanks for letting us newbies get our feet wet in ASP.net. I was wondering if there is a way to incorporate your UserManagement into the Club Web Site Starter Kit. Thanks again for the code.

Wednesday, July 12, 2006 12:16 PM

jeremy said...

I haven't looked at the Club Site Starter Kit, however, if it uses the memebership tables then integrating my User Management project should be quite easy.

Wednesday, July 12, 2006 4:12 PM

Good Morning, The starter kit does have all the standard ASPNETDB.MDF tables including Roles, Members etc. I don't know where to start tho. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks

I would like to make two comments. First is that the bulk upload button does not work in my site. I think the code is missing there? Maybe I messed up implementing your template? Second, I would like to suggest a better way of catagorizing the blog posts. Could you consider doing it by Date? So the pane on the left could have the year and month links. The home page should just show the last N blog entries.

Monday, July 24, 2006 2:16 PM

jeremy said...

The bulk upload works for me. However, there is an issue where sometimes it does not delete the files out of the upload folder after importing them into the album. Permission on must be set correctly on the Albums folder and Upload folder for it to work properly.<br><br> As for the the blog, I intend to implement an Archive view of entries as well.

Hello Jeremy, I have web space on Go Daddy and on their server I have to name my index page index.asp, for some reason aspx files will not work. But when I tried to use that file extention the .master page won't work. Any suggestions?

Friday, August 04, 2006 9:48 PM

jeremy said...

If aspx files don't work in your web space then you will not be able to run the Personal Site Starter Kit. You should be able to configure your web space to allow the use of aspx files. More specifically you need your web space to support ASP.NET 2.0.

Dear Jeremy, I am using your code for my son's website but having couple of issues. The edit feature does not work on this site. I am using SQL 2000 version. We talked couple months back via blogs. I am still having problems with "WebForm_PostBackOptions is undefined" when managing the photo gallery. Please help how this can be fixed or if there is any body who reported this problem Looking forward to your response. Thanks Snehal Rana

I implemented Jeremys code on Godaddy hosting pretty sucessfully. If anyone has a question on some of the issues you need to deal with specific to Godaddy they can contact me at www.damon4.com. Also, I am not totally thrilled with Godaddy, but I am stuck there. T think Jeremys host might be better if you are starting fresh.

Thanks for the code! I've added a bunch of it to my PWS project and converted it to C# (since I'm not familiar with VB). It's going quite well so far. One question I have is could you send me your procedure for AddPhoto? I'm having problems with SQL Express so I can't open your file. I'm using SQL Server 2005 for my site.

Hi Jeremy, I forgot my password to my username snehalrana. Could you please reset the password and send it to me so that I could download the latest version of the code for this kit. My kit works locally with VWD/SQL Express but when I upload it to the remote server it gives following error: "User doesnot have permission to perform this action" Is there a workaround for this issue? Thanks Snehal Rana

Tuesday, March 06, 2007 2:24 PM

jeremy said...

Snehal Rana, It might be that you need to give modify permissions to the App_Data folder for the Network Services account.
